How much does it cost?
The total fees for all three NCAS assessments is payable in two installments, one while registering for the Computer-based Assessment, and the second while registering for the Simulation Lab Assessment/ Oral Assessment. Should you wish to extend, reschedule, or cancel your assessment within the allowable timeframe, additional administrative fees will apply.
2018-2019 Fee Summary
CBA Rescheduling Fee (more than 48 hours before your scheduled assessment date): US $35 (payable directly to Prometric)
CBA Rescheduling Fee or No-Show (on or fewer than 48 hours before your scheduled assessment date, or failing to appear at the scheduled time and date of the assessment): CAD $150 (payable directly to NCAS)
SLA Rescheduling Fee (more than 30 days before your scheduled assessment date): CAD $35 payable directly to Langara College
SLA Rescheduling Fee (between 30 and 8 days before your scheduled assessment date): CAD $150 payable to NCAS, plus $35 payable directly to Langara College
SLA Reschedule Fee (less than and including seven days before your scheduled assessment date or failing to appear at the scheduled time and date of the assessment): Forfeiture of entire original SLA fee. And payment of the full cost for the rescheduled assessment. Because the initial session was heavily subsidized, upon rescheduling, you will be asked to pay a different, much higher fee to establish a new assessment date. The new fee reflects the actual cost of the assessment. Please contact NCAS directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you cancel either the CBA or SLA/OA more than 30 days in advance of your scheduled appointment, you may apply for a refund. In both instances, NCAS will charge an administrative fee of $50. Your request to cancel must be submitted to, AND acknowledged by, NCAS more than 30 days in advance of your scheduled appointment. No refunds will be available for cancellations that occur 30 or fewer days prior to your scheduled assessment.
Are there any available financial resources to help offset the costs?
Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants - Health is a program for newcomers living in any British Columbia community with training and skills as a Nurse (LPN/RN/RPN) or Health Care Assistant.
Eligible participants can enter the program for free and receive 22 months of support as they move along the registration pathway. Also, there are funds that may help cover some of the NCAS fees. The program is free for internationally-trained healthcare professionals who:
Are committed to pursuing Licensure in the same field as their pre-landing experience
Have 3 years international work experience as a certified Nurse (LPN/RN/RPN) or Healthcare Assistant (Applicants 19 - 30 years of age or under may apply with 1 year of international work experience in their regulated profession).
What happens after my assessments?
You may request a reconsideration of your NCAS results. A fee applies. A reconsideration involves an assessor who did NOT perform your original assessment. The new assessor views all four of the videos that were recorded during your original SLA/OA session. The assessor then scores your performance on each scenario independently. A new report that combines your original computer-based assessment scores, and your new SLA/OA scores, will be prepared. Reconsideration results may appear lower in some thematic competency areas than the results applicants originally received. You are limited to only one reconsideration request.
Should you wish to request a reconsideration of your NCAS results, you must submit a written request to email@example.com within 15 days of receiving your performance report. When requesting a reconsideration, please complete and submit this form to firstname.lastname@example.org
